RACISM

Editors Note: While watching the recent Shawn Hannity Show featuring a live audience of black conservatives, one of the participants made a comment that reminded me of an article I wrote in 2007. “I’m not a black man, I’m a man.” I re-read it and decided to share it with you.

I’m Not A Black Man – I’m Not A White Man – I’m a Man (Written July 26, 2007)

Racism . . . the devils great deception.

If he can divide us, he can weaken and destroy us. And he’s alive and well in Americas social structure.

In the first church, Acts 2:42-47 the Christians were of one accord, united, sharing the Word and caring for each other and others in the community.

But Satan has managed to divide our nation.

In this article I would like to share a great attitude to racism that was revealed in an old 1967 movie starring Sidney Poitier. Also some of my own thoughts.

RACISM . . . THE MOST PRIMITIVE FORM OF IGNORANCE

Ignorance doesn’t mean dumb or stupid. It means the lack of knowledge or education. A particularly noxious byproduct of ignorance is racism, bigotry, and intolerance.

In my parents generation many left school early to work or get married. Many were farmers and ranchers and felt that the ability to read and write, and to have basic math skills were sufficient.

They didn’t discuss racism in the public schools or churches. And they didn’t have television to inform them on daily social issues.

However, the Bible that was studied and taught from at any time in American history, was the same as it is now. It is a mystery to me, how anyone that had access to the Word, could have believed in slavery, that it was alright to own another person, or to deny them the same rights that God had given them, the freedom to worship and to receive an education.

And why was it not addressed from the pulpit or in the Sunday School classes. Surely the preachers understood what was right, and what was wrong. And what was wrong according to the Bible a thousand years ago, was wrong at the time of slavery, and is wrong today. And will be wrong tomorrow. The Bible never changes.

IM NOT A BLACK MAN . . . IM NOT A WHITE MAN . . . I’M A MAN

Recently my granddaughter and I were watching an old movie I hadn’t seen since I was a teenager. “Look who’s Coming To Dinner”, starring Sidney Poitier. I think in 1967. It was a story about a black man, a prominent doctor, and a white woman from a well-to-do family, with plans to get married.

Both dads were strongly against the marriage as they visualized the persecution they knew their children would be put through.

The most telling scene was between the black father and his son. The father began by demanding his son honor his request to stop this relationship, reminding him that he was colored.

He continued, reminding his son, “What are you thinking? I may just be a letter carrier, but I worked hard days, and your mother and I sacrificed many material possessions enabling you to become a doctor that is looked up to, bringing you respect, and wealth.

And you think this qualifies you to break the color barrier. You have to remember that you are colored, and I demand that you stop this relationship right now. You owe me and your mother.”

The son’s reply was quick and to the point.

“I love you, but I don’t owe you anything. You are my father and it was your responsibility to provide for me every opportunity that would make my life better than yours, as it will be my responsibility to my children (However he did owe his father respect).

The difference between you and me is that you think of yourself as a colored man. I think of myself as a man. Until your generation, that thinks your way is gone, there will be no hope for our freedom.”

As my granddaughter and I watched this movie, I remembered my thoughts as a naive teenager, watching this movie at the theater in the late 60′s, and thinking, “In my lifetime I’m going to see a near color blind society. “I think of myself as a man”. What a great solution to racism.”

I believe the racist, both black and white, understood that too.

I believe that time in history presented America it’s best opportunity in this century to create an environment of acceptance between races, a time when bigotry was being exposed and challenged.

However Satan intervened and decisions were made by both black and white leaders and citizens that determined the degree of racism in America today.

And we all failed miserably. As a result the nation has become more divided.

The self proclaimed churchless black preachers such as Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton didn’t accept the “I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character”, and began under the premise that they were God’s mouth piece, to teach hatred and revenge, instead of love and forgiveness.

If there is any blame to be given. It should be given to the Christian churches. The black and white churches stood quietly by, content to let the government become the fathers, providers and teachers of our children.

Providing little or no resistance to these false prophets, traitors to their own people, whose agenda was not spiritual, but to gain political power and wealth, and now dominates public opinion in most of the black community.

Many black preachers have allowed their emotion of love for their people to deceive them into leading their flock in the ways of the world, giving material possessions precedence over the teaching of the Word of God, and eagerly sends them to the polls to vote against the teaching of the Bible, which has brought us where we are today.

A society weak in moral standards, content to accept abortion, homosexuality and separation of God from our schools and civil affairs, as a trade off for material and financial security.

God must be very angry with us. Racism can be mostly abolished, if we want it bad enough. And if the nation can learn it’s importance.

Though we often speak of it’s importance, there’s little attempt to teach it. The Word of God shows us how.

The twins, racism and bigotry have been around almost as long as pride has been around. It dates at least as far back as Cain and Able.

That qualifies it as the oldest and “The Most Primitive Form of Ignorance”. The Bible tells us that “pride goes before destruction”.
It is the root of racism and bigotry, and if allowed to flourish will bring about our nations destruction.

The following simple scriptures are well known by all Christians, and most non-Christians. If practiced by the majority of just the Christians, it would eliminate most of racism, bigotry, crime and major problems in the world.

Matthew 22:37-40 “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”

1 Peter 1:22 “Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth (The Word) so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart.”

The Church has failed both God and society. True Christianity shows no racism or bigotry. It teaches forgiveness and unity through Christ.

Perhaps that was one of the purposes of Mark 16:15  “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”

DEVOTIONALS BY RAY TURNER

I would like to encourage you to join the “Media Flash Mob” team today.

I have to believe that there are enough people out there listening and care about what’s happening to our nation that can make a difference.

But they may not know what to do about it, or maybe afraid that it will take too much of their time if they get involved.

I’ve added an opt in form to my site (see sidebar), that will make it easy to be an activist, requiring just a few minutes of your time when you receive an occasional “Media Flash Mob Alert” and call to action.

If you have time to spend 15 minutes or more a day on social networking – Then I promise you, I can make it easy for you to make a difference using less time. — Maybe once or twice a week.

Hope for our nation may have been revealed on the April 8 edition of the Shawn Hannity Show, during a special show featuring a live audience of black conservative leaders.

If you’ve been following me I don’t need to explain the joy I experienced as each one voiced their opinions and suggestions as to how to reverse the damage to this generation that’s been done through the liberal propaganda machine.

Before last night’s show — like the conservative politicians — some seemed to be content to just blend into the conservative culture, being comfortably interviewed on conservative networks, talk shows, and writing articles for conservative blogs and websites.

It encouraged me to see their energy and determination to organize and start the process to bring this great nation back to the nation our founding fathers intended.

I’ve coined a new term, “Media Flash Mob”, that explains a tactic that CAN get the conservative message out. — A method that CAN reach any group.

I would like to encourage this group of black conservative leaders to consider and implement this tactic. – If you are one of their followers please direct them to this article.

This is a tried and proven tactic. Though it wasn’t used to promote politics – it can be.

My prayer is that this group will show the way, and that the conservative politicians will see it work and follow suit.

If you’re new to this site I challenge you to read the following articles – and see if you can resist getting involved.

Conservative politicians seem to be afraid that if they talk about racism they will lose the black vote.

But it is time for them to take it to the Democrats, revealing the truth.

All through out history the Republican Party was the aggressor in the attempt to bring “racial justice and civil rights” to Black Americans. The Democratic Party platform opposed legislation from 1855  until 1940, and though they finally included it in their platform, they still suffered  intense opposition in much of their party.

In 1856 the first Republican platform was submitted, and it contained only nine planks; however, six of the nine set forth bold declarations of “equality and civil rights for African-Americans”, based on the principles enshrined in the Declaration of Independence.

This emphasis on racial justice was the primary reason that the Republican Party was formed.

There was no mention of “racial justice and civil rights for Black Americans” in the Democratic Party until 1940. And from then until 1964 every Democratic President encountered stiff opposition from his party.

When Democrat John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960, he had been less willing than Republican President Eisenhower to utilize executive orders to promote civil rights. — He even delayed for more than two years the signing of an executive order to integrate public housing.

However, following the violent racial discord in Birmingham in 1963, Kennedy sent a major civil rights bill to Congress – a bill based on the findings of Eisenhower’s 1957 Civil Rights Commission.

Kennedy worked aggressively for the passage of that civil rights bill but was tragically assassinated before he could see its success.

President Johnson refused to bring a Republican civil rights bill to a vote as speaker of the Senate, but after his appointment as President presented the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

Two important civil rights acts were signed into law under this Democratic President, but it was the Republicans in Congress who made possible the passage of both acts, for Democratic President Johnson had been unable to garner sufficient Democratic support to pass either bill.

At that time Democrats had 315 members in Congress, holding almost two-thirds of the House and two-thirds of the Senate. President Johnson needed only a majority – only 269 votes – to get those bills passed; but out of the 315 Democrats, only 198 voted for passage.

Democrats had it completely within their power to pass those bills and did not do so.

The bills passed because Republicans overwhelmingly came to the aid of Democrat President Johnson: in fact, 83 percent of Republicans voted for those bills, a percentage of support almost twenty points higher than that of the Democrats.

If not for the strong support of Republicans, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965 would never have become law – not to mention the fact that the heart of both bills came from the work of Republican President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

One brilliant political move by the charismatic President Kennedy occurred when Martin Luther King was jailed in Montgomery, Alabama during a sit in at a restaurant.

President John F. Kennedy helped Martin Luther King Jr. get out of jail after he did the Civil Rights Movement, which was highly publicized.

This won the hearts and minds of the black community and has been exploited ever since.

As President John F. Kennedy begin to draw support of the black voter — And since the bills were passed during a Democratic administration, the Democrats have been falsely promoted by the liberal press and their party as the party that most favored the civil rights of African Americans through out history, and continues today.

The liberals have successfully played the race card since the death of Martin Luther King. Claiming the Republican’s history of “fighting for equal rights for African Americans” to be their own

Today race baiting has become one of the most effectively used tactics in the Democratic Party.

And the president has shamed the honor and prestige of “the office of the presidency” by adopting that tactic, without any regard for the great Martin Luther King dream. – a dream that our president was never taught, because of his parents dislike for the “ the American capitalist system”.

CLICK HERE FOR A 124 YEAR HISTORY OF MAJOR CIVIL RIGHTS EFFORTS BASED ON A SIDE-BY-SIDE COMPARISON OF THE EARLY PLATFORMS OF THE TWO MAJOR POLITICAL PARTIES. — STATEMENTS BY THE DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS IN THEIR OWN WORDS.

Following are a few excerpts:

THE DEMOCRATS PLATFORM — 1840, 1844, 1848

All efforts by abolitionists . . . to interfere with questions of slavery . . . are calculated to lead to the most alarming and dangerous consequences and . . . have an inevitable tendency to diminish the happiness of the people and endanger the stability and permanency of the union.

THE REPUBLICANS PLATFORM — 1840, 1844, 1848

[Republican Party not yet formed.]

THE DEMOCRATS PLATFORM — 1856

The Democratic Party . . . will abide by and adhere to a faithful execution of the acts . . . settled by the Congress of1850: “the act for reclaiming fugitives from service or labor.”  . . . [We support] non-interference by Congress with slavery in state and territory, or in the District of Columbia [i.e., we oppose all congressional attempts to abolish slavery in any area of the nation].

THE REPUBLICANS PLATFORM – 1856

As our Republican fathers, when they had abolished slavery in all our national territory, ordained that no person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of law, it becomes our duty to maintain this provision of the Constitution against all attempts to violate it for the purpose of establishing slavery in the territories of the United States. . . . [W]e deny the authority of Congress, of a territorial legislation, [or] of any individual or association of individuals, to give legal existence to slavery in any territory of the United States.

NOTE: Republicans were first elected as the majority party in 1861. Over the next eleven years, they  passed almost two dozen civil right laws – and three constitutional amendments – to reverse the barriers of discrimination, segregation, and institutional racism.

SHOCKING FACTS IN 1892

The Democrats had engaged in extensive efforts to suppress black voting, and those efforts had been successful.

For example, in Mississippi in 1892, there were 70,000 more blacks than whites in the state but white voters outnumbered black voters by a margin of 8 to 1. And in Birmingham, even though some 18,000 blacks lived in the city at the turn of the century, only 30 were eligible to vote.

In Alabama and Florida, the number of black voters was reduced by nearly 90 percent, and by the 1940s, only 5 percent of blacks in the Democratic South were registered to vote. In fact, in 1965 in Selma, Alabama – a city with more black residents than white residents – the voting rolls were 99 percent white and only 1 percent black.

Clearly, Democratic voter suppression efforts had been successful, however Republicans had sought to have federal protections at the polling places to protect African Americans from corrupt local officials, and it is to this practice of protecting black voters with federal marshals that Democrats here object.

THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY FOUNDED AND PROMOTED KU KLUX KLAN ACTIVITIES

The “inhuman outrages” perpetuated upon African Americans in the South were largely committed through the Democrats’ Ku Klux Klan.

It is indisputable historical fact that the Klan was started by Democrats. In fact, during congressional hearings on the subject, one prominent Democrat testified that the Ku Klux Klan “belongs to . . . our party – the Democratic Party.”

And the first Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan was prominent Democrat Nathan Bedford Forrest, an honoree at the 1868 Democratic National Convention.

Recall also that every Democrat in Congress voted against the 1871 bill to punish Klan violence.

Why were blacks so often the target of Klan violence? According to African American U. S. Rep. John Roy Lynch: “More colored than white men are thus persecuted simply because they constitute in larger numbers the opposition to the Democratic Party.”

African American U. S. Rep. Richard Cain of South Carolina, a bishop of the AME denomination, agreed, declaring: “The bad blood of the South comes because the Negroes are Republicans.

If they would only cease to be Republicans and vote the straight-out Democratic ticket there would be no trouble.

Then the bad blood would sink entirely out of sight.” It was these Democratic and Klan “inhuman outrages” to which Republicans here object.

In 1957 — Democrat Governor Griffin promised that as long as he held office, he would “maintain segregation in the schools; and the races will not be mixed, come hell or high water.”

To prepare for the possibility that Republican President  Eisenhower might do in Georgia what he had done in Arkansas, legislation was introduced in the Democratically-controlled Georgia legislature so that if desegregation was attempted, the public schools of the state would be dissolved and replaced with state-run private schools so that blacks could be excluded.

These type of schools became known as “segregation academies.”

Meanwhile, in Arkansas, Democratic Governor Faubus, unable to prevent black students from attending school because of the federal protection they received, simply shut down the schools for the next year to prevent further attendance.

I’ve been screaming at the TV for years – “Quit playing not to loose – play to win.”

Conservative politicians seem to be afraid that if they talk about racism they will lose the black vote. How much of the black vote do they have now?

The liberals have successfully played the race card since the death of Martin Luther King. Claiming the republican’s history of “fighting for equal rights for African American” to be their own. (I will be writing an article soon on legislative history proving that the republicans were advocates of African Americans civil rights, and the democrats were opposed and blocked legislation for many years.)

The cards are in line today for the conservatives to play the race card. – So! If the game is to play the race card, then let’s play it.

If African Americans were to learn black history – understand the dream of Martin Luther King – and the damage that “liberal black ‘race baiting” community organizers” have brought to their families and neighborhoods, there would be a mass exodus from the Democratic Party.

The population of black conservatives has been growing steadily in recent years.

I believe with the recent popularity of Dr. Ben Carson, the time is right for brave black conservatives to join him — to step up and organize a group that will begin to reveal the truth and indoctrinate the black voter.

Allen West recently said – “There’s nothing on this green earth that a liberal progressive fears more than a black American who wants a better life and a smaller government.”

But like the conservative politicians some seem to be content to just blend into the conservative culture, being comfortably interviewed on conservative networks, talk shows, and writing articles for conservative blogs and websites.

This is good, but I would like to challenge them take it directly to the black community. Organize community gatherings and challenge them to get into their own mind. Teach them black history.

Point out that the democrats have promised them a way out of poverty. And then ask them this question.

Can you see that there are still no jobs, your kids can’t read and write, there’s more violence in their neighborhoods, your daughters are having babies without husbands – and they are worse off then they were 20 years ago?

And then point out that more and more African Americans are starting to think for themselves and looking for policies that will give them a better life. And conservatives have those policies.”

The RNC recently announced that they were going to allocate thousands of dollars to reach out to the black community.

It’s not rocket science to figure out that black conservatives are the only ones that can accomplish that. And they will need funding.

So, everything is right to play the conservative race card.

“Reviving The Martian Luther King Dream”, would be a good name for an advocacy group. His famous speech could be the foundation for the movement.

The liberals stole the original dream — and many of my black brothers and sisters have been exploited for their vote, and for power, and riches.

I’ve coined a new term, “Media Flash Mob”, that explains a tactic that can get the conservative message out. I would like to encourage black conservatives to learn and implement this tactic.

It would be awesome if a majority of the black vote were to switch. But if the conservatives can recruit just 5% of the vote they will win elections.

The dream is still available, and it’s the responsibility of all of God’s children to unite and make that dream happen.

I challenge my black brothers and sisters to read the “I have a Dream” speech and decide for yourself what he intended.

NOTE: Following is the last 17 paragraphs of the “Martin Luther King” speech. – And this should be the dream of every American.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal.”

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of interposition and nullification; one day right there in Alabama, little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.
I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.

This is our hope. This is the faith that I go back to the South with. With this faith we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.

This will be the day when all of God’s children will be able to sing with a new meaning, “My country, ’tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing. Land where my fathers died, land of the pilgrim’s pride, from every mountainside, let freedom ring.”

And if America is to be a great nation this must become true. So let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire.

Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York. Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania!

Let freedom ring from the snowcapped Rockies of Colorado!

Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California!

But not only that; let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia!
Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee!

Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi. From every mountainside, let freedom ring.

And when this happens, when we allow freedom to ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God’s children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, “Free at last! free at last! thank God Almighty, we are free at last!”

I would like to encourage you to join the “Media Flash Mob” team today.

In the Old Testament days, slaves would sometimes endorse voluntary slavery.

If indentured servants so chose, they could remain a slave (Ex. 21:2-6; Deut.. 15:16-17). Their ear was pierced to indicate this permanent subjection.

The law recognized that some people want the security of enslavement.

In the late 60”s I was successfully drawn to, and sold the Martin Luther King dream, “Don’t judge a man by his color, but by the content of his character”.

His dream wasn’t to divide, he simply wanted a level playing field so that his race could pursue the same American dream that every other American had available.

That the color-divide would go away. — That people could live in peace and harmony. — That was my dream too.

But, upon the death of Martin Luther King, black community organizers like Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton and the liberal black politicians of the nation stole that dream from their own people in a quest for power.

And then the new tactic was, “teach hate and division, and demand that the government give them their needs”. – They owed it to them.

Through the years they have successfully recruited the liberal press and taken control of the educational system, and used it to successfully indoctrinate our children.

Today, there are some Americans that have been sold into ‘voluntary slavery’  by the left — Who would rather be dependent upon government to provide their needs (and with that provision, accepting their commands) — than do what is necessary to live free from its provision and direction.

We have a long way to go to bring that dream back. But we see more and more black leaders today that are breaking away and investigating their options and realizing that the dream is still available.

Realizing that success comes, not through entitlements that steals their vision from them. — But through the content of their character, the moral standard that Martin Luther King taught.  — To love and respect one another regardless of color.

To understand the importance of a family unit that includes the marriage of one man and one woman.

The importance of an education where they can learn first, that the original intent of our Founding Fathers was to teach our children reading, writing and arithmetic.

Also to respect God, family, and country, to work hard and understand that we are all accountable for our actions. — The schools have been taken over by the Progressives and turned into “institutions of indoctrination” and used to reverse all of those virtues.

I’m very sorry that this generation has had that stolen from them. (both black and white)

We have a lost generation of black Americans because of the selfish, greedy, racist, and immoral tactics of the left. –
Allen West recently said – “There’s nothing on this green earth that a liberal progressive fears more than a black American who wants a better life and a smaller government.”
Conservatives “understand that the Constitution was written to control and regulate the government, not the people”.
I know. I’m just an old white man. And it was challenging for me to stand up in the late 60”s for what I thought was right. – And the race baiters have created an even greater divide today.

But it’s still my dream too.

You can see the abuse that black leaders receive when they try to break away from the dishonest propaganda that has been pounded into their heads. — Eagerly distributed by the liberal press,

But the dream is still available, and it’s the responsibility of all of God’s children to unite and make that dream happen.

“More African Americans are starting to rebel against the liberal black activist and politicians that stole the “Martin Luther King” dream from them.

When they get into their own mind they can see that there are still no jobs, their kids can’t read and write, there’s more violence in their neighborhoods, their daughters are having babies without husbands – and they are worse off then they were 20 years ago.

More and more African Americans are starting to think for themselves and looking for policies that will give them a better life..” — Realizing that they have been sold out by their own brothers and sisters.

Conservative politicians are afraid that if they talk about racism they will lose the black vote. How much of the black vote do they have now?

If they can teach them the benefits of Conservatism, they will get their vote.

And the liberals that sold them into slavery will have to leave town.

Though this article focused on the African American community –In all reality, ‘voluntary slavery’  crosses all ethnic lines.

Organize, and Flash mob! Flash mob! Flash mob!
